WHAT’S Gracie BRAZILIAN JIU-JITSU?

Gracie Brazilian JIU-JITSU is a grappling-based martial art, created by Grand Master Helio Gracie whom theme is the skill of defending one self by controlling a resisting aggressor . Due to the mastering and deep understanding of leverage, body balance, grip control and positioning, JIU-JITSU allows a smaller person to take a bigger opponent to the ground where control is easier and then force them to submit. Even though Gracie Brazilian jiu-jitsu is generally considered to be a ground based martial artbecause of it’s use in sports competitions and MMA, it’s very important to remember that the art was developed as a self defence tools . Gracie Brazilian JIU-JITSU is used as a self defence program for women, children anti bullying program, police and military forces around the world.

THE INSTRUCTOR

My name is Franck Samba, since the age of 12 years old I have been practicing some sort of martial art. My journey started with taekwondo, aikido then later on some kick boxing. Even though I’ve always loved and respected most martial arts, deep inside me I was longing for something that could take me to the next level and that change came in the form of the ultimate fighting championship or simply known as UFC . In 1998 I came across a video tape that showed a little Brazilian guy named Royce Gracie submitting a bunch of guys experts in all different martial arts and most of them twice is size without throwing a single punch. That day my view and understanding of martial art changed completely, I knew then and there that there was something missing in most of the martial arts that I was practicing and that missing link was the ground aspect. I realized that when a fight ends up on the ground, there was a complete universe unknown to most people including myself. I’ve decided that I needed to learn that art called Gracie Brazilian JIU-JITSU. But back in those days finding a Brazilian JIU-JITSU school in England wasn’t so easy, so it took me another 13 years to finally join a Gracie Barra school in Camden where I got my blue belt. I finally moved to another JIU-JITSU school by accident, under the tutelage of Master Eddie Kone a second-degree black belt under professor Royler Gracie, son of the legendary Grand Master Helio Gracie funder of the Gracie Brazilian jiu-jitsu dynasty. At Eddie Kone academy of JIU-JITSU I came to understand the basic fundamentals of self defence in it’s purest form and the true understanding of the fight game starting on the feet then on to the ground. After 11 years of practice and dedication to the art, I have achieved the level of black belt under Master Kone in 2021. I since then take upon me the duty to pass down the art of the Gracie Brazilian JIU-JITSU to whom want to learn, even though I will remain a student of the art for life.
